Will marijuana edibles like brownies and cake after a breast reduction constrict the blood vessels? (Photo)

You shouldn't have any issues with marijuana edibles affecting your healing.The THC in the marijuana, which is found in the edibles, doesn't affect healing.Nicotine in cigarettes is the main culprit when it comes to issues with healing/blood supply. Therefore, we always caution patients to NEVER smoke cigarettes before or after their breast reduction or lift.  I have also had patients smoke marijuana after breast reductions without any issues.  (I practice in Seattle, WA, where marijuana is legal and used by many patients...)

If my patients tell me they are smoking marijuana after surgery, I always make sure they are not smoking this in combination with any tobacco, as the tobacco will contain nicotine which is the substance that slows down healing. The active ingredient in marijuana should not itself cause any blood-constricting issues, so in edible form it is less likely you are having any contaminants of nicotine
