7 weeks post op, tearing sensation? H cup aiming for a C. (photos)

Question

I had my breast reduction almost 7 weeks ago, from 42H and aiming for a C. This morning I woke up with a burning, tearing sensation under my right breast, just below the scar. I have been applying cocoa butter 3x daily per my surgeons instructions. It looks almost like new stretch marks are forming under my breast. I'm concerned this may be a sign of infection. Is this normal or should I contact my doctor?

I can't see any clinical signs of infection in your photographs and it is not unusual to have this sort of sensation a couple of months after your surgery. The nerve endings are coming back to life and you can have burning, tingling or even shooting pains.

At about 6-8 weeks, the nerves internally are usually coming back to normal, and weird sensations are common.  If you are concerned, then review in person with your doctor.

Thanks for the question and the photos.A physical exam would answer your question accurately, but based on your history and two photos, it does not seem that you have an infection.  The burning pain is quite common and caused by the nerves coming back to life.  Similar to your fingers itching on a cold day once you walk into a warm building.  It resolves in several weeks.  Advil works as well as Benadryl at night.Ask your surgeon for their opinion and possible treatment as well.Good luck with your continued recovery.Dr T
