1.5 years post lower facelift. Can anything be done to improve the ears? (Photos)

My Dr said nothing can be done, because the scar wouldn’t be worth it. But I’m super self conscious of the unnatural appearance and missing tragus. Can anything be done to make my ears look more natural? Do I need to see a different Dr? Pictures are before, 1 week after, and 1.5 years later.

Recon touring your tragus should be able to be accomplished under local anesthesia by elevating the skin of your cheek, removing excess tissue beneath that skin flap, as well as on your tragus and reshaping and trimming the skin flap so that it fits along the curvatures of your ear. The incision should be able to be hidden With the old faceless scars. If your surgeon won’t do it, then consider seeing a different plastic surgeon. Best wishes.

Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Topical skincare should be directed to a specific need, whether for pigmentation or hypertrophy and our office can guide you through the process to obtain the correct Plato’s Scar cream or Melarase cream for hypertrophy and discoloration. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. All of these have their individual benefits. Most of all, we recommend you visit a solid plastic surgeon who understands surgical scar revision, laser therapy, and RF therapy for scars.

Overall, your ears appear quite natural. Your surgeon did a good job avoiding a pixie-ear deformity, which can occasionally occur after a facelift. You may be referring to slightly stretched earlobes; if so, this can be improved with a simple earlobe-reduction procedure.

This can be corrected and it’s not really that complicated.  But many surgeons are at a loss as to how to correct it. Your earlobe needs to be reduced and reshaped and the scars adjusted as well. I have several cases I have shown in n my Instagram as to how this can be corrected

Yes - there are always options. We could do something to improve the tragus and shape of the ears for sure. It would involve moving some tisue around but should be an improvement
