Under eye bag removal. How long will the bruising last, and when can I drive?

The healing process from lower eyelid surgery depends on several factors.  The technique used by the surgeon, the age of the patient and several other factors.  It can also vary from patient to patient.  Most patients are mildly bruised for 5-10 days.

To be sure, ask your surgeon or see two or more board-certified plastic
surgeons in your area for a full and complete evaluation to make sure you are a

Bruising varies considerably from patient to patient. A few have little to no bruising which is gone in a week, but most have bruising that lasts from 5 days to 2 weeks. Occasionally patients have bad bruising that lasts longer, but usually they say, "that is me, I bruise a lot." I always ask patients when we meet if they bruise easily or get bruises but don't remember any bump or trauma. Those are the patients who I expect to have significant bruising. Some patients and doctors believe Arnica prevents bruising but I am not convinced. Using ice and holding pressure for the first 24 hours will definitely help.Good luck!
