Question

I had an L shaped silicone and some cartilage augmentation for my nose bridge. My tip was very bulbous and at the tjme didnt go for nostril reduction. It has been 8 years and recently there has been a lot of contac to my nose (little one). But now I feel there some changes to touch at the tip. Wonder what would be least invasive possible procedure? How long do I have until a revisjon is required? Like is there any case it is a real emergency and it actually pokes out? Can I just have the tip redone via a closed surgery? Would love to see a surgeon in Montreal area.

Many of the changes you are seeing along the tip of your nose reflect the effects of the silicone implant applying pressure to your skin, which over time thins it. As the skin thins contour irregularities can appear as the edges of the implant become visible. While immediate extrusion typically does not occur until redness or irritation of the skin is apparent, trauma to the nose can precipitate a sudden change.

The best way to preserve or enhance the shape of the nose in a permanent fashion would be to remove the silicone implant and replace it with your own tissue.

The least invasive treatment depends on whether the change is due to scar tissue, cartilage movement, or implant displacement. A limited revision may be possible, but an examination is necessary. It is usually not an emergency unless there is redness, drainage, significant pain, skin thinning, or visible implant/cartilage exposure.
