When will the bloating go away... Will my stomach be even flatter after the swelling. I believe I was in shock when my doctor removed my bandages and now I have all these questions. How long does it take to see the full effect of the tummy tuck.

Answer: 5 days after my tummy tuck and I feel so bloated. Is this normal? Yes, this is completely normal. I advise my patients to wait a good 6 months to a year to see their final result because it can take a while for ALL of the swelling to resolve. Continue wearing your compression garment and follow your operating surgeon's post op protocol for the best possible results! Good luck!

Answer: Rule out constipation. I agree with my colleague, but the other consideration is that narcotic pain medicine can easily result in constipation. In addition to drinking plenty of water, you need to make sure that you are back to a regular bowel regimen. I suggest checking in with your surgeon for his or her guidance. It is still very early so be patient, and make sure that your surgeon is very involved and aware of your progress. Communication with your doctor is key to a speedy and uncomplicated recovery. Best of luck.
