Hello, I’m a 43 year old female considering breast reduction surgery. I’ve been wearing 36G/H size bras. I’ve gained about 25 pounds since having a child 6 years ago and am interested in losing that weight. I’ve been told I have very dense fiberous breasts. If I have the reduction surgery now, would there me a noticeable change if I lost 25 pounds? Thank you

Answer: Weight loss Thank you for your inquiry! I always suggest having elective plastic surgery when you're at a stable weight. If you're currently losing/gaining weight or wanting to lose/gain weight then I would suggest waiting until weight is stable to get any breast procedure as that will affect the results. I would love to see you in person and verify that you're a good candidate for this procedure. Schedule a consult with a board certified plastic surgeon like myself so we can make a surgical plan for you and help you reach your goals!

Answer: Weight Loss After Breast Reduction Hi Diligent651426, I usually recommend that our patients be at their "ideal weight" prior to having a breast reduction surgery. Weight loss can result in a decrease of adipose (fat) tissue in the breast after a breast reduction, despite the fact that you also have dense fibrous breast tissue. This can alter the appearance of the final desired result and or lead to excess skin laxity. As always, it is best to consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. After a a physical examination of the breast, your surgeon would be better able to tell you how weight loss may affect your breast shape and appearance post-operatively.

Answer: Weight loss after breast reduction Thank you for your question. I recommend you to wait until you complete your weight loss goal before getting your surgery done. Losing more weight afterwards could cause sagging again. Good luck

Answer: Breasts If weight gain did not change the size of your breasts much, then weight loss will not make much difference. However, if the girls got bigger as you gained weight, then you will lose some volume with weight loss.
