What do I do about under eye fIller gone wrong from 2 years ago? (Photos)

It is only getting worse after 2 years! I had Juvederm I hexed under my eyes two years ago. Immediately knew something was wrong as it looked like the filler was just sitting on top of my cheekbone. Dr assured me it would fill out but never did. Two years later it’s only getting worse and I don’t know how to fix it. They said it should dissolve a year later but these bags under my eyes are still here.

Thank you for your question. The fillers can be dissolved using a reversal agent. I would suggest returning to your injector or visiting another experienced provider to discuss your next steps.

You first need get hyaluronidaze injection to dissolve any filler there as there is likely filler still present. Then you would re-evaluate.

Hello.  I'm sorry to hear about your experience.  While hyaluronic acid fillers are very safe, they rarely can cause problems if injected too superficially.  Almost always they will dissolve, but may take much longer in the eye area.  The best thing is to see your injector, or see a board certified surgeon or dermatologist with experience injecting and consider dissolving it with hyaluronidase.  Good luck!

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  I would first start with having your injector dissolve any filler that may be retained with hyaluronidase.  Depending on the product injected this may take several sessions at slightly higher doses.  Reevaluate after treatment to see if any correction was obtained.  Hope this helps.

After 2 years, this is unlikely due to filler, but I recommend following up with a cosmetic dermatologist. If filler is present, it can be reversed with hyaluronidase. It may take a series of treatments. Best, Dr. Emer

Most if not all of the Juvederm that was placed should be gone by now. Without preinjection photos, it is difficult to say what might be going on. 
I would recommend visiting a plastic surgeon to discuss options for improving the lower lid. Please be aware that the solution will likely be surgical in nature rather than more injections.

Certain fillers, called hyaluronic acids (Juvederm®, Restylane®, Belotero®), are able to be dissolved by injecting a product called a hyaluronidase into them. This enzyme can be used to dissolve any of the hyaluronic acid products that are injected into the face.This dissolution can be useful to correct problems when these fillers lead to bad results.

Sorry you are experiencing this after your injections.  Hyaluronidase injections over 1-3 sessions will help completely absorb the product.  There are some newer alternative fillers that you can have reinjected into this area once the filler has been completely eliminated.   Best of luck with your treatment of this area.
