If I have nerve damage in a part of my lip what do I do?

Thank you for sharing your question and I am sorry to hear of your car wreck.  Unfortunately in this area of the face the best treatment is a wait-and-see approach.  Nerve irritation after injury can persist for upwards of 6-12 months but depending on your pain characteristic there is medication that can help treat your symptoms.  Best wishes. 

It takes about 9-12 months for nerves to fully recover. There is nothing that can be done to make things better. I would try to ride it out. If the nerve pain is severe, consider seeing a neurologist.

Hello Moosey_14,Sorry to hear about your accident and the trauma to your lip.  The good news is that the majority of the time complete sensation will return to that area.  It usually occurs in the first 3 months but can take a full year.  During the healing process you may feel some tingling and even an occasional shooting pain.  Other than avoiding further trauma to your lip, there is nothing specifically you can do to help the process.I hope this helps and good luck.
