I am scheduled for surgery march 11th and have a conference I am suppose to go to the following week, March 19th. Am I going to feel up to going to this conference? My surgeon said I should feel quite a bit better 1 week after surgery but I wanted some other opinions as well. This is a big conference so I would be more likely to postpone the surgery if its going to keep me from going. I wouldn't have to do much other than sit at the conference.... But am I going to be in pain ad just want to lay down?
Answer: How will I feel one week after breast augmentation? Thank you for your question.Everyone is different and have a different pain tolerance and therefore recovery. That being said, most patients feel well enough to return to work in about a week. You will need to take it easy and you might still feel a little fatigued. After all, it is still surgery and your body will be working overtime to recover itself.I would speak with your surgeon and I’m sure he/she will give you the reassurance you desire. Good Luck!

Answer: Breast Augmentation Recovery Usually after surgery the swelling increases for 4-5 days and usually peaks about day 5. From that point the resolution of the swelling will be somewhat slower. It takes about 6-8 weeks for 80% of the swelling to go away. The last 20% will take a couple of more months. Usually at about a month, enough of the swelling has decreased so that things look pretty good. Icing as much as possible the first 7 days noticeably decreases the swelling and makes women much more comfortable. Initially, things will also feel very tight. This is a combination of the swelling and the fact that the breasts are stretched over the implants. As the swelling decreases and the tissues relax, the tightness will ease and the breasts will soften. This entire process to complete softness and relaxation takes about 4-6 months. In terms of activity, ask your surgeon what if any restrictions you have. I ask my patients not to run, jog or ride horses for about a month after surgery. The up and down pounding motion, can in my opinion cause problems in the early post-op period (long term it is not an issue). Other than that they are pretty much free to do as they like within common sense limitations. A week or so after breast augmentation surgery, you should be able to attend a conference with little difficulty. At most some Motrin or Tylenol should cover any soreness that remains. If you are traveling, you may consider getting porters to help with your luggage just to make it easier for you. Best of luck to you! For the best results seek the consultation of a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. They have a website listing all the certified plastic surgeons. Members of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery will all be board certified in plastic surgery and have demonstrated an interest and competence in cosmetic plastic surgery as well.
