How does tip deprojection impact the rest of the nose?

If I get a tip graft removed, how will the rest of my nose be affected? Will it help in making the base look wider? How will nostrils be changed? Will the columella be able to be lowered?

It is not clear what type of tip graft you have in mind; columella, septum extension, or true tip shaping graft like shield graft. Only on the basis of detailed in person exam and review of your operative report, one experienced, board certified plastic surgeon, expert in rhinoplasty, could give you some idea of consequences of that procedure. This is an important point about rhinoplasty.  Everything in the nose is connected in one complex and dynamic system.  If you change the tip, you change all other parts of the nose and how they fit together.  Sometimes, this is ok.  for example, if you have an over projected tip, then deprojecting may make everything come back into balance. But, if the width is ok with an over projected tip, then deprojecting will mean you should adjust the width for proportionality.  We deproject the nose regularly, as a smaller nose is often what people want, and we consider every potential result of our maneuvers.

If you have a cartilage graft in your nose that is problematic simply get it removed. Many grafts that are placed serve me purpose and I think there are too many grafts done for no reason. I have removed many tip grafts and other cartilage grafts and the results were better I was thinking to myself “why did they put a graft in there to begin with ?”

Generally, if one has a tip graft to increase projection and they don’t like it, then it’s possible to revise the surgery and trimming of the tip graft or placing a small graft could help modify tip projection.
