Hi, I had rhinoplasty surgery a little over a month ago and my recovery was well since I had no bruising and hardly swelled. My concern, (conern, is lightly putting it, I am actually freakish out) I have a line on the top of my nose (see picture). It's almost like a groove or skin stuck to the bone on top of the bridge of my nose. Underneath that line looks swollen, however I feel like it caused by this mark. You can mostly see this when I turn to the side (see picture #2). Is it permanent?????
Answer: I have line and swelling on the side of my nose after Rhinoplasty. Is this normal? Yes the sub dermal tissue becoming adhered to the fractured nasal bone. See your surgeon ASAP for therapy/treatment. I would aggressively massage and might inject a filler or fat tto release...

Answer: Early Post-Op The postoperative time for most rhinoplasty patients is often fraught with anxiety. During a rhinoplasty, the skin and soft tissues are often completely separated from the underlying bone and cartilage framework. The framework is modified and the skin is laid back down. These are big movements that are often intended to create millimeter changes to the shape of the nose once it heals. After a rhinoplasty the nose swells from the trauma of surgery and the tissues become edematous. This makes the normally pliable skin firm and causes the nose to take on a “weird” appearance in the first few weeks after surgery. The nose continues to settle over the next few months as the edema finally escapes and the soft tissues adapt to their new underlying framework. It will take 6 months to a year to see a final result. Close follow-up with the surgeon is essential. Assuming there is no infection, patients should allow at least 6 months for the swelling to resolve and the tissues to soften before contemplating any changes. At that point, a detailed exam and discussion will help delineate the best treatment option.

Answer: Contour irregularities in the early post-operative period after rhinoplasty You are very early in your recovery so it is too early to jump to conclusions. While the indentation may represent several things (like a medial osteotomy) without knowing the details of your surgery it's very difficult to say with any accuracy. Bring up your concerns with your surgeon and follow up closely with him/her to ensure the best result.

Answer: Rhinoplasty Once the cast is removed usually after 1 week, your face will feel puffy and the area around your eyes and nose will be bruised and swollen for several days. Cold compresses can help minimize the swelling and reduce pain. Your doctor may also recommend pain medicine. It takes about 10 to 14 days before most of the swelling and bruising improves. Keep in mind everyone heals differently and tolerates pain differently.
