Retook pt/ptt/inr and failed for Brazilian Butt Lift. What's next?

Question

I passed all blood work required for a BBL but failed pt/ptt/inr twice slightly. Today my doctor will determine based off a medical clearance if I can proceed. I guess I'm more shocked than mad that I might not be able to proceed with the procedure. I've NEVER had any history of excessive bleeding nor my family. Is there any way I can alter this? How can someone who has given natural births w/o complications finally be told there's a possibility of hemorrhage or blood clots?

I completely agree with your plastic surgeon. I would not move forward with abnormal labs. Please understand that Plastic surgeons are only looking out for your best interest. We perform elective procedures but want to make sure  it is being performed in a safe manner. I recommend following up with a hematologist and finding the underlying cause of your abnormal blood work.

Patient clearance means all history physical examination and blood tests and other tests as needed should be normal before proceeding with major surgery.having an abnormal results of pt, ptt, inr, is very important. Now the direction to be taken is not how to pass the tests, but to see you family physician and investigate why the tests are abnormal and reach a diagnosis and proper treatment. Until then put the elective procedure on hold. Your safety comes before buttock enhancement surgery.

I agree with your surgeon for his concern about your safety. Abnormal PT/PTT warrants further investigation. Unfortunately, it may even be considered as malpractice to proceed with your surgery without knowing and treating the cause of this abnormality. BBL does involve significant ooze and loss of blood. This may worsen with an abnormal clotting profile and may jeopardize your safety and result. I recommend that you seek the opinion of a hematologist who can work closely with your surgeon.
