Should I have surgery while on the Nexplanon implant?

I have the birth control implant nexplanon (that's in your arm) and im getting BBL and maybe tummy tuck. Should I have it taking out before surgery?

Thank you for your question. You will hve to talk about this with your surgeon, and determine if they feel it is a risk.  Also talk with your anesthesia provider and determine if they are conncerned.  Your surgeon and anesthesiologist will determine if any risk is increased with a ll your medications, including your birth control. I hope this helps!

Birth control pills and hormone implants for birth control, Hormonal therapy, hormonal replacement therapies increase the persons chance of blood clots  and blood clots travelling to the lungs (Deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary emboli).The surgery also has a risk of blood clots. Therefore hormones and birth control increases the risk of surgical patients of blood clots.Other factors that increase the risk of blood clots has to be explored and investigated. All surgical patients should be evaluated as to the risk of blood clots before surgery (CAPRINI SCALE)
