Will lower face drooping (fat pockets?) resolve after third masseter botox treatment wears off?

Question

I'm a 26 y/o female who has received botox to my masseter for bruxism. 24 units total in July '15, 28 units total in Nov '15, and 32 units total in the end of April '16. Since the third treatment, I've noticed facial drooping near either side of my mouth. It's like all the fat from my mid cheeks drooped down to my lower face. I'm not getting any more jaw botox in the future. Will this resolve with time?

The face will completely resolve after the botox wears off.  I suggest you see an expert for fillers or skin tightening to help.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Thank you for your question and I am sorry to hear of your lower face drooping.  It is difficult to make definite recommendations without an in-person examination or full series of before and after photographs, but if Botox resulted in the tissue drooping then as it wears off you should see a return to your pre-Botox appearance.

Your story is quite unusual in my experience however if this change in your face was caused by the botox it should reverse as it wears off.  If the masseter was treated higher on the face it's possible that a small amount spread to the smile muscles otherwise I can't really explain your drooping.Be patient until the botox is gone.  I'm optimistic that you will be fine.

Hi there, this should resolve a bit with time, but as we age and as we lose weight, the face starts to sag, so generally the trend will be that the fat from your upper cheeks will move down to your lower face. This can be corrected with fillers like Voluma, placed in the upper cheeks, which would bring your whole face "up." If you can post a pic, I can tell you a bit more specific info to your particular face.
