Deciding how to fix my DR/hernia. I’ve consulted with a plastic surgeon (TT) and a general surgeon (laparoscopic repair). Both say they are the best option. I’m torn. General surgeon would be covered 100% by insurance. However not convinced result will look as good as TT. I don’t have stretch marks or much extra skin. 5’4” and 135 lbs. I had triplets, my stomach sticks out considerably but my skin is still tight. Have 3-4 finger gap. Will my skin bunch and look worse with laparoscopic repair?

Answer: Tummy tuck In my opinion, a tummy tuck will give you a better outcome because the rectus diastasis is directly repaired, brining you muscle edges back together while redraping and removing extra skin. The laparoscopic option uses mesh to provide internal support, but does not physically change the position of the muscle edges. For women how have had multiple births with delicate fascia, I will reinforce the rectus diastasis repair with an underlay mesh to ensure that I achieve long-lasting contour.

Answer: Tummy tuck Dear Girlmamax3, based on your photos, you look like a good candidate for a TT. Full tummy tuck should tighten your abdominal muscles and remove the excess skin. Flanks liposuction would give you a better shape. I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon because only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.
