How soon can I walk my dog after a full tummy tuck?

Thank you for your question.  The greatest concern with walking your dog is for your own safety.  Walking is recommended the day/night of your tummy tuck and every day thereafter, but depending on how bent over at the waist you are, and your pain levels, caution must be taken to prevent your dog from pulling you, causing you to stumble and possibly lose your balance.  I would use discretion based on your comfort level, and ability to control your dog, as to when you will be able to walk together.  Best luck with your surgery!

I encourage my patients to be up and walking the day after an abdominoplasty. If your dog is well behaved there's no reason not to have him join you. If he struggles against the leash you will have to wait a few weeks.
