Hi All so about 12 years ago i applied a scarcream to my eye tissue right below my lower eyelid. When applying this caused my mid face area to thin and flatten (midface right below eye and above mustache) and is very thin resembling a midface hypoplasia, please guide on this thank you
Answer: Midface Thank you for your photo but it is hard to tell what your concerns are. If you desire more fullness in the face then I would look into fat transfer.

Answer: Midface hypoplasia If you believe that the application of a scar cream 12 years ago has resulted in changes to your midface appearance, I would strongly recommend consulting with a qualified healthcare professional, such as a dermatologist or plastic surgeon, who can evaluate your condition in person. They will be able to assess your specific situation, thoroughly examine your facial structure, and provide a proper diagnosis. During your consultation, be sure to provide a detailed history of the scar cream application and any subsequent changes you've noticed in your midface area. The healthcare professional will consider this information along with a physical examination to determine the cause of your concerns and discuss potential treatment options (like fat transfer). They may also consider other factors that can contribute to changes in facial appearance, such as natural aging processes, loss of volume, or other underlying medical conditions.

Answer: Need to come in to consult For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Volume correction Unfortunately, it is impossible to see how much volume change has happened and what is exactly the defficiency. Only on the basis of in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon you may get a better idea about options of treatment. Good luck.

Answer: Mid face volume enhancement Midface hyperplasia is often due to certain facial, a skeletal structure, variations, and age. The area can be augmented, using fillers, grafted, fat, with the use of implants or a mid facelift. Fat grafting in this area can be unpredictable, inherently, and precise, and potentially unforgiving if patients don’t like the outcome. Fillers are probably the easiest, most forgiving and most predictable. I suggest having multiple in person, consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons in your community. Ask them what their recommendations are, and then ask them to show you sufficient before and after pictures to get a clear understanding of what average results look like in the hands of each provider. Early fat to transfer results can look very impressive but do not in any way represent final results. After pictures for fat transfer should be taken at least six months from the date of the procedure. Never assume fat grafting after pictures are present final results. Always insist on getting confirmation on the timeframe of when pictures were taken in relationship to the date of the procedure. Continue having consultations until you feel comfortable you found the best provider for your needs. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
