Skin breakdown and dehiscence after mastopexy. Any feedback on how to heal faster? (Photo)

Question

I have horrible sjin breakdown after a lift. I am almost 5 weeks out. Day 8 grew klebsiella and enterococcus, took 2 weeks of Bactrim. Third week grew out Pseudomonas. My Dr said they are just superficial wounds and only Silvadene is needed. I am so worried. He will do a staged exc of scar 6-12mos out. 300cc Silicone. Afebfril lower half of breast somewhat red, but not swollen or tender. Any feedback on how to heal faster? wondering if HBO might help. Worried about implant integrity

Thanks for your pictures. It looks like your wounds are healing fine. Hbo not helpful at this point. I understand your concern about your implants. These wounds should continue to heal with good local wound care.

Hello,I'm concerned about your implants too.  Here in Los Angeles we have a ready supply of doctors, making it easy to refer to an infectious disease expert. I can tell more often than not they recommend intravenous antibiotics, especially if there is an implant in the vicinity or if there has been obvious skin necrosis due to an infectious process.I would press your surgeon for a more aggressive plan at this point. I hope this comes to a quick resolution.

It seems as though you plastic surgeon is doing everything he / she can to help you. Stick with the plan and follow his / her instructions carefully and completely. A recent study has show that HBO is not very helpful in wound improvement. Remember the Solution to pollution ( bacteria) is dilution. So washing, showering and keeping the area clean is really important, if you smoke stop, if you are diabetic get your sugars under control.
