You can request that your areolar dimension be reduced during breast lift and implant surgery.  With certain types of breast lifts if the areola is decreased it usually remains smaller than before. 

You can request the size of areola that better fits your wishes, do communicate openly with your surgeon.

A peri-areolar or vertical breast lift both involve making an incision around the areola. A circular marker is used in the operating room. The marker has a set diameter and is used to mark the areola so that it can be made smaller. usually result in smaller areola... but you should discuss this with your surgeon so your expectations are known.  You have the opportunity to change things more towards your liking.  Make sure your surgeon doesn't use rapidly dissolving sutures in Benelli lifts because you will end up with humongous areola... I know because I know a surgeon that does this and must like huge areola.  And know revision policies in case the scarring is suboptimal.

A Breast Lift usually involves an incision around the areola and this can be decreased in size at the time of implant placement. Be sure you have discussed your goals with your surgeon and have seen pictures of their patients who are similar to you so you can judge for yourself. 

The areola size should be able to be controlled a bit when a lift is performed in conjunction with the augmentation. If an augmentation alone was performed then the areola would spread.
