Thank you for your question.  There is some evidence that probiotics can lessen some of the negative side effects of antibiotic use such as diarrhea and other more serious issues.  It is probably safe to take with your antibiotics and pain medication but would recommend discussing with your surgeon.  Best wishes on your recovery.

I always recommend my patients take probiotics while on antibiotics. It helps prevent diarrhea and probiotics can be safely taken with vitamins and post-surgically. Best of luck with your procedure.

Many surgeons use one dose of antibiotics prior to the start of the procedure, while others give them for a few days.  I would avoid any herbals and the like. Best to ask your surgeon.
