Is Lidocaine before surgery safe?

Question

In 23 days I’ll be having a Brazilian butt lift with lipo 360 but yesterday I had a non surgical rhinoplasty with filler called Restylane. This contains 0.3% of lidocaine. Will this interfere with my surgery. My surgery center requires no lidocaine at least 35 days prior surgery. Their anesthesiologist team hasn’t gotten back to me if it’s okay and I need a sooner answer. I am 22 years old and healthy no medical conditions. lidocaine is a local anesthetic and it shouldn't affect your planned surgery. But every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.

Lidocaine has a half-life of about two hours. That means that after most local anesthetic procedures, the lidocaine will be out of the system in about 6 to 8 hours.
The surgery center policy not seem to be logical. I suggest you talk to your provider, but what you described does not sound like a contra indication or a potential health issue.Best,

Hi. The lidocaine should be out of your system by the end of the day. Also, 0.3% of lidocaine is very dilute and shouldn't cause any problem.
