Can the autologous buttock fat flap used in body/butt lift surgeries be removed if a patient dislikes it? What is it sewn to? Would removing it damage the gluteal muscles or fascia in any way, and is there a risk of deformity? Are there doctors experienced with removing or revising these flaps? Is it dangerous?
Answer: Buttock augmentation buttock lift bodylift expert brachioplasty mastopexy LBL FDL Thank you for your question regarding whether an autologous buttock flap can be removed if the patient dislikes it. The quick answer is yes. Technically, an incision is made at the top of the buttock, and the buttock is debulked. The dermal flap is directly removed, including the deep dermis and fat. It is sewn to the skin. Removing the autologous buttock flap does not damage the gluteus muscles or fascia. There is a small risk of deformity because the volume is being reduced. Like any other surgery, these procedures are significant but not extremely dangerous. Thank you for your question about removing an autologous butt flap.

Answer: Reversal of autologous butt fat flap Some before and after photos would be helpful. That being said, I have never been a big fan of the autologous butt flap because it tends to only modestly augment the upper third of the buttock and not the critical lower 2/3rds where most patients really want the projection. it is usually not feasible to reverse the auto augmentation. Rather, the rest of the butt can be enhanced and rounded out using Barack implants. Please note, an extremely few number of board-certified plastic surgeons specialize in buttock implants so you may have to travel far away from home to seek consultation with such specialist. Glad to be of help.

Answer: Autologous dermal fat flap removal If you’re not happy with the outcome then revising the area should be straightforward. Most likely you should follow up with the surgeon who did the procedure. Once things have healed in place the fat picks up new blood supply from the tissues around it and the flap can be removed partially or totally without too much problem. Depending on how much of your current contour the flap is contributing to removing all of it may be too much. you didn’t include pictures so it’s hard to give you an estimate. Revising it could be done with open surgery, with Liposuction or whatever technique the surgeon wants to use. if the contour isn’t correct and Samaria is excessive or bulky than any tissue in that area that’s fat could be removed. It doesn’t have to be the flap itself or it could be the flap. Contouring after you’re healed should not be rocket science. Three individuals with a history of skin laxity it’s very important to differentiate if there is still a skin laxity that’s contributing to contour problems or if it’s truly based on subcutaneous fat distribution. Follow up with your provider or have a few in person consultations for local board-certified plastic surgeons. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
