Will Ultrasonic Cavitation/Laser Lipo help tone my post pregnancy tummy? (photos)

Question

I gave birth to twins about a year and a half ago, and like most moms (especially C-section cases), my stomach's never been the same. I don't have an overhang but instead somewhat of a little 'pouch'. I'm not even willing to consider a tummy tuck and wanted to hear your feedback whether these Ultrasonic Cavitation/Laser Lipo treatments could help me in toning this problem area.

I would suggest meeting with a board certified plastic surgeon and realistically discuss your options. Really stretched out skin will best be treated with a tummy tuck, but noninvasive procedures may give some improvement. Only surgery will be able to tighten your stretched muscles.

You need to have an appointment with a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon to examine the skin and laxity in the area and to determine which of the available modalities may be right for you.  There are several skin tightening procedures that can be done – some are the RF skin tightening devices – the Venus Legacy, the EndyMed 3Deep, the BTL Exilis, the Alma Accent, and the Syneron VelaShape III all can help here – and may give you satisfactory results. One may also consider liposuction or laser liposuction – this needs to be done by a skilled surgeon if you are considering this – following C-sections can make this a little more difficult with the scarring that may be present under the skin.Find the right doctor, learn the treatment options, and see what can be done to make your concerns better.

Determining which is the correct procedure can only be done once the correct diagnosis has been made.In your case, your primary diagnosis is muscle separation from your pregnancy.You have mild skin laxity and mild subcutaneous fat.Liposuction, regardless of type, will only treat your subcutaneous fat.It will give very limited results.My guess is you will be disappointed.You appear to be a better candidate for a full tummy tuck.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
