I had a tummy tuck performed 3 months ago and I'm not pleased with the result. I feel like there was no liposuction performed and I have what is known as dog ears. I don't think he extended the excision enough. Does it look like I will need a revision or can liposuction provide the results I'm looking for?

The first thing you need to consider is that it is MUCH too early to consider any revision surgery. I usually recommend that patient wait until 1 year after surgery to consider revisions because often with time things will change or might even resolve. It looks like there may be some asymmetry in the skin resection in the lower middle abdomen, but to be honest your "dog-ears" look completely normal for 3 months post-op. Stay in touch with your surgeon and continue to follow up with them and heed their advice. You chose them to do your surgery for a reason, so trust in their advice with this as well.

Answer: A revision can be done to address excess skin and dog ears left behind. Abdominoplasty scars can be quite complex, ranging from the simple hypertrophic scar to a multiplane inflamed keloid. Pigmentation, discoloration, chronic inflammation, scar visibility can all occur in the short term. We begin each treatment with combination therapy using Yellow broadband BBL, Vbeam, fractional erbium, intralesional IIT, and scar modulation. Start with a combination of Plato's Scar Serum massaged twice daily after one week of epithelialization followed by Luminase/Exfolase. Scar consultation and revision may be recommended.

Answer: Results You are not yet seeing the final results from your tummy tuck which can take six to nine months. Dog ears can often be corrected under local anesthesia in the office surgical suite. I encourage you to discuss your concerns with your surgeon to determine if liposuction would address the portion of the results that disappoint you.

Answer: Surgery Right now, you are still early in the healing process and still have swelling. Once you are at 6 months, then discuss any concerns you have with your surgeon. dog ears can be trimmed down if needed.

Answer: Early postoperative result after TT It is very difficult to discuss on pateit result without preoperative photos to compare. It looks that you had a lot of loose skin and moderate skin tone? It would be in you best interest to wait at least 1 year after surgery before considering any revision. Revision may include more aggressive liposuction (which is limited when TT is performed to 1 litter in Florida), or combination of liposuction and vertical skin excision (between BB and pubis). For the time being garmet, massage and scar management with occlusive tapes. Good luck.
