It’s been over 4 years that I did my TT. I had some scaring and I decided to tattoo over it. Fast forward I now have a baby and everything is a little stretched. Can I get a TT révision to clean up the line and any chance of a new belly button?

Answer: Tummy tuck revision Your situation sounds a bit complicated. We typically encourage patients to wait to have a tummy tuck until they’re done having children. For weight loss patients doing a skin only tummy tuck may be appropriate if future children is uncertain and the impact of the procedure will have a significant quality of life change. Considering your tattoo it doesn’t make sense to redo the tummy tuck in regards to skin or belly button position. The only indication would be to add muscle tightening. Not having gotten that tattoo would’ve made things a little easier. In the end it’s up to you if you feel like messing with the tattoo for a slight improvement in your outcome. I recommend having in person consultations to discuss your options with local board-certified plastic surgeons. Revising belly buttons often doesn’t give that much improvement and often adds a second undesirable scar. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
