Can a tongue in groove technique deproject my nose or only turn it up? (Photo)

I want to go for a revisión rhinoplasty as I don't like my long and projected nose. My doctor says he Will perform a tongue in groove technique as my mayor problem is the droopy tip. But wat I Don't like most is the over projection. Will this technique help with this or Just turn up the tip?

The septal lengthening techniques (tongue in groove or others) are to provide de-rotation of tip, lengthening the nose, lowering the nasolabial angle, etc, and NOT to deproject the tip. Change your surgeon and seek better opinions, right away.Deprojecting a nasal tip is simple, can be done under local and sedation, just by trimming a bit the medial and if necessary the lateral crura of the alar cartilages, this is ABC in rhinoplasty.

A tongue in groove is a technique where the septum is used to provide support for the nasal tip. It can be used to de-project your nasal tip by setting the medial crura lower on the septum. However, additional maneuvers will be necessary to further de-project the tip. The lower lateral crura will have to divided and re-constituted in order to provide further de-projection. Good luck!

In my view, simply based on this one photo, I do not think that a tongue in groove technique alone will help you with your over projected nasal tip and long alar cartilages. There are many fine revision rhinoplasty techniques which could be considered to address your concern. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide a more detailed answer without the benefit of additional information and a complete examination.
