Hi, Thank you for your post. PRP does well to thicken and preserve that hair that we have. I would recommend setting up a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon who is a hair loss specialist. After a few sessions you should see some improvement. Generally it takes about 6-9 months to see results. Tweet
Almost 100% of our patients see some noticeable changes after a package of PRP treatments. You have to pick your patients wisely, meaning pick patients who are good candidates for the treatment. Not everyone is a good candidate. Also, not all PRP is made equal. In fact, there is a HUGE difference between kits. Make sure you select a provider that knows a lot about PRP and hair restoration, and you will increase your chance of success dramatically. Best of luck, Dr. Giordano
There are a variety of systems for performing PRP, and we have been doing this for over 8 years for treating hair loss, with typically 60% of patients demonstrating a response.
In my opinion, it depends how you evaluate success and what diagnosis you are treating and if the protocol is adequate. For androgenic Alopecia, if one is assessing shedding, the chances of it decreasing is approximately 40 to 80 %. Increasing the diameter of the hair shafts has about the same percentage. Hair regrowth is difficult to predict. If the hair loss is less than 3 years the chances of regrowth are good. If the follicles are lost, there will be no PRP induced regrowth. Find a PRP expert. As to see photos.
Most people do grow hair after PRP treatments. How much hair will vary. If the cause is androgenic alopecia (too much male hormone), the likelihood is good. If there is a different underlying cause then addressing and treating it (adding medication, iron, etc.) plus PRP will be helpful to get optimum regrowth.
Thank you for your question. In carefully, selected patients the success rate of a series of PRP injections should be around 70-80%. It is best to see a hair restoration expert when considering PRP injections so that you get a proper assessment and optimal treatment. There are a number of PRP kits on the market, some much better than others. PRP can promote a healthier scalp, increase in the shaft diameter of hair follicles, and restoration of recently lost follicles. It is ineffective for late stage baldness.I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.
