Should I stay at a recovery house after liposuction because of health risks or can I stay at a family house in Dominican Republi

Unless you have some unusual medical condition (which could also affect whether you should have any elective cosmetic surgery procedure), you should not be at any increased "health risk" during the recovery at your home from your procedure.   Your procedure should be done in an accredited/certified facility by a BCPS to minimize ALL risks. Our patients are discharged home with an accompanying adult after satisfying the state mandated discharge criteria, but are ALWAYS seen the day after surgery (yes, even on Saturdays)--just another reassure you will have if you remain in the area after your procedure. Traveling by plane during the first week or so is not suggested unless necessary.  All of this should be reviewed by your BCPS during your in-person consultation.  Good luck!

I would not recommend leaving the country after a surgical procedure until your surgeon has deem you safe for international travel.  Close followup is always important after surgery.  Good luck

My suggestion is to find someone who does liposuction with tumescent anesthesia which doesn't require any significant overnight stays or worry about which type of housing.  After a day you should be fine to go back to your normal activities without worry.  In general, it shouldn't matter where you stay after liposuction and should not need major at home care if it is done with a very gentle method.  Best, Dr. Emer.

In my practice I only have patients stay over night if more than 5 liters of actual fat is removed.  For smaller volumes, patients go home that same day.  If a patient has significant health issues, liposuction is not performed as this is a cosmetic procedure.  However, going out of the country for your surgery is very risky.  Who's going to take care of you if you have a complication...Be careful.  

Generally speaking, liposuction is an outpatient procedure. However, you need to address this question with your Board Certified PS.

Almost all liposuction patients are discharged after the procedure to go home. Nevertheless, discuss your concerns with your own surgeon.

What you really need to do to determine WHY leave Miami for DR!!! This decision could be life threatening.. Please pm me to compare the total out of pocket costs vs what can be done here in MIAMI... 

I don't think the question is where to stay, the more important question is where should I have my plastic surgery.  And am I willing to go back there should I have a problem or spend many thousands to have it taken care of by a board certified plastic surgeon in the US, if you can find someone willing to take care of you
