Can anything be done to reverse Sculptra?

Question

I had two sessions of sculptra three months apart. I wanted to look a little fresher. Now my face looks masculine. I was looking good at first, but now it seems the filler is over correcting. The nurse injected my cheeks, jaw and sides of my chin. I am a woman and have been mistaken for transgender. I am so depressed! Is there anything that can be done to reverse the sculptra? I can stand to lose about 15 pounds. Will this help? Please help!

I do not see what you see.  you look completely feminine but full.  This is likely the 15 lbs you need/want to lose and i suggest diet/exercise at this point.  I do some of the most sculptra in the country and treat numerous transgenders and i do not see the the issues you are describing.  Please post before photos. Best, Dr. Emer.

I am sorry to hear about your situation. I have been using Sculpta for over 10 years and have never experienced or heard about someone complaining that the product worked so well that it created visible augmentation to the point of mascularizing your face. You didn't state how long ago the treatments were nor how many bottles were used. Although your photo doesn't really look masculine you are obviously disturbed by the result. You mentioned that a nurse injected you. Was it done at a board certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist office? Can you be sure that it was Sculptra and not some synthetic material like silicone? If the product was spread over wide areas than there is very little that you can do at this point. A short course of steroids by mouth( Medro Dose Pack) may help but I dont think it is wise to have steroid injections into your face. The good news is that if it was Sculptra the result should pretty much disappear in 18 months time. Again sorry, but hang in there!

There are no reversal agents for Sculptra. I see flattening in the temples which is masculine and placing a filler there would be very helpful to round it out. If this is taken care of and you are still concerned, consider using 5FU injections. Although I have no experience, some physicians also injection collagenase for this problem. I don't see a significant problem with the injections though.

Based upon the 1 posted photo you do not appear transgender nor masculine. Also not much can dissolve the effects of Sculptra, since it is a solution of poly-lactic acid that stimulate collagen in growth. Also sounds like the 2 sessions you had , you had very little amounts injected anyway. Best to seek in person opinions from boarded MDs not nurses.
