Knee-high stockings are used to prevent blood clots in elective surgery. Breast augmentation is a procedure which is very low risk for blood clots. Many plastic surgeons, including me, use them as a simple, safe and economical way to compress the calves during surgery. In my opinion, I believe that normal walking replaces the need for the stockings. Once you are moving normally again I usually recommend that you discontinue them, usually in the first week.
In our practice we have our patients remove these once they start walking around regularly. You should check with your surgeon if there is any reason he wants you wearing them longer.
Depends on your surgery but usually only for 1 week. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Instructions about the use of compressive hose after breast augmentation should come only from your surgeon. In my opinion there is no need for these prophylactic devices in an uncomplicated breast augmentation.
Check with your surgeon first. The purpose of the stockings are to minimize the chance of blood clots going from the legs to the lungs during surgery. I have my patients remove the stockings after the day of surgery because they are walking again and have normal circulation. If a patient has a history of blood clots or a medical condition related to that, there might be special instructions for how long to wear the stockings.
Compression stockings are helpful in preventing blood clots. Moving around regularly after surgery is another way to prevent blood clots from forming. As opinions vary, it is best if you check with your surgeon to determine when the stockings are no longer necessary.
Thank you for your question. You will need to check with your plastic surgeon. We usually recommend that you wear the stockings for 2 weeks post surgery.
Hello dear, thanks for your post. Jobst compression stockings (or other brands) are used to decrease venous blood congestion or pooling while a patient is immobile on the operating table, in order to reduce blood clot formationThe best way to prevent this is walking around. Using compression certainly is not a bad idea. I have my patients wear just the compression hose they recieve during surgery (less compression than jobst) for 48 hours after surgery. Getting out of bed and walking around the house every hour while awake is the best preventative measure though.. If there is any question, please ask at the time of surgery or beforehand. Best wishes and good luck :)
In my practice, the compression stockings you are asking about are removed after day 1 or 2 when the patient is up and walking around. These stockings are used to reduce the chance of blood clots during and after surgery. Best wishes.
Silicone gels or tapes and bio-oils are usually administered to prevent the surgical scars to become hypertrophic and hence achieve the best scar quality. When to use is totally the preference of the surgeon. In my practice for breast and body aesthetics, I usually use a special water...
Aloha,Thanks for your great question. Both are very safe, but I agree that recovery and side effects are better with IV sedation. As important is the person giving the anesthesia; I've used the same certified anesthetists for >20 years and my patients love them.Mahalo, Dr D
Yes, Flagyl should not interfere with your surgery. However you should share this with your office prior to surgery.
It's a good question. Breast width can change if the size of the breast changes. This could occur during pregnancy, or with changes in weight that affect the breasts. Also, when an implant is used that is larger than the base width it will create a wider breast base..
Hello,Thank you for the question and photos. This does appear to be wrinkled skin. Stretch marks which are new are typically dark to begin with, then fade over time. You might expect your skin to retract and smooth out a bit as you heal. I recommend that you follow up with your Plastic Surgeon...
At just one week after your procedure, you’re still early in your recovery. However, you should be fine to begin resuming light daily activities as long as you’re abiding by your surgeon’s post-op instructions. At this stage, soreness and some moderate pain can still be expected, and an ice p...
