Can you help with hip pain after BBL (one year post op)?

Question

I had a bbl done May 2020 and months later I would get these small knots that would hurt but go away after maybe 1 or 2 weeks. Now I'm getting really concerned because the knots are back again and it's making my hips hurt. No I do not have implants.

I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

One of the possible reasons that comes to my mind is fat necrosis. Certain amount of fat grafts do not survive, as you know, and may and up as a nodules, cysts of fat grafts decay. These may be very painful for some time. Consultation with your  surgeon would help. Good luck.

Hi! A proper assessment would be required to determine the problem. You need to visit an experienced plastic surgeon for a thorough examination and recommendation. There could be other reasons for hip pain which would require a scan.

Best to return to see your operative surgeon. Also obtain a scan of the areas. If used a clinic setting then you need to call around to see if any experienced boarded PS would see you. Because these cinics NEVER offer any type of Follow Up to the patients.

I recommend you follow up with your plastic surgeon who did the procedure.

You should also consider consulting with a pain specialist.  It’s important to differentiate what is causing the pain and where it’s coming from.  There are many causes of hip pain and you may need to look for other causes than just having had a bbl especially if your PS is not helpful.
