A filler, fat or lip implants? I personally prefer the implants as they will not resorb at a variable rate, look a little different right from the left side, etc. Also they are permanent and non-toxic, non-allergenic. The problem with fillers is that they may go away more in some parts of the lip and less in other potions - that is ok since all of them are going to be reabsorbed anyways. But if you ger fat injected, you may end with a permanent asymmetry regardless of the technique used just because 40-60% of the fat goes away, so on top, a lot of surgeons tend to overinject the lips. I would start with fillers, then transition to an appropriately chosen implant.
Hello, and thank you for reaching out to us.My recommendation is that you find an ASPS board certified surgeon in your area and set up an in person consult. Fat transfer to the lips is growing in popularity as it is more permanent and utilizes your own body fat. Good luck, please let us know how it goes.- Dr. Constantino Mendieta
Either fat or hyaluronic acid fillers (HA) can be used. For longevity, I would recommend a highly cross-linked HA like Juvederm XC or Perlane for up to 8 months correction. Fat has the potential for a permanent correction but typically requires 2 treatments with the first one lasting 1 year.
I would recommend Juvederm or Restylane Silk -for more natural result....................................
Thanks for the question. If you have never had any lip augmentation before, you may wish to start with commonly used HA filler such as Restylane or Juvederm. This will give a nice "trial" augmentation. The "photoshopped" picture you made shows a shorter distance from the top of the lip to the bottom of the nose; this is not always possible with augmentation alone. Be sure to have treatment with BCPS!! Good luck :)
