Fat necrosis or infection? What can I do, I'm in Arkansas, had surgery in Miami. Can't fly back again for follow up. (photo)

I'm sorry that you have had such a rough experience after your surgery.  The hard lumps are areas of fat necrosis and might take months to soften, if at all.  As long as there is no fever, redness and you are being followed by an infectious disease specialist, just be patient.  I recommend a follow up MRI scan after your antibiotic treatment to make sure these areas are just fat necrosis and not deep pockets of puss (abcess) that might require surgical drainage.  You should definitely have an Infectious Disease specialist following your progress in addition to a local Board certified Plastic Surgeon.I wish you the best.

I am sure you have heard this a million times, but this is why you don't travel far to have your surgery. The prices in Miami are very reasonable but if you have a complication, it is not realistic to travel back there to be taken care of. It is also very difficult to find a PS in your area that will help you since the complication was caused by another surgeon. The hard painful lumps are likely ongoing infection but can also be pockets of fat necrosis. I would recommend that you find a PS to examine you as this can be serious.

Sounds like you are having issue with fat necrosis.  Unless you have fevers, spreading redness, etc. there is nothing to do but wait.
