Is the drooping of the nose as we age that noticeable? Why are some older people's noses still youthful and some not?

As we age the nose does tend to droop and lengthen. This is not due to growth, however, but due to relaxationof the supporting ligaments and soft tissues of the nose. Just as with aging in general, this affects all of us differently- some show a great deal of drooping whereas others seem to maintain support and show less signs of nasal aging. Besides genetics, trauma to the nose or previous nasal surgery can affect this as well.The good news is that rhinoplasty can be performed to correct many of these signs of aging on the nose.

 Everyone's nose ages differently just like the patients facial features. When patients have an active depressor septi ligament, the nose tip is pulled downwards every time they smile. This may loosen the ligaments over a long period of time which allows the nose tip to droop. During the rhinoplasty procedure, releasing of the depressor septi ligament is important.
