Can I CoolSculpt the same area more than 3 times?

I've already done cool sculpting twice (treatment to transform) My doctor wants me to do another 2 treatments in the same area. Is it safe or do I risk Paradoxical hyperplasia of fat?

You ask a good question, thank you.  Coolsculpting may be performed multiple times in the same area as long as there is pinch-able fat to treat.  There is no published clinical evidence that suggests that multiple Coolsculopting treatments increase the risk of developing hyperplasia.  Your certified Coolsculpting provider will assess your area of concern to determine if you are a good candidate for treatment.  Best of luck in your body transformation.

Patients in our office have seen an average fat reduction of 20-25% with each treatment. Depending on the patient's body composition and outcome goals, it generally takes in average 2-3 treatments to achieve optimal results. A second treatment is general scheduled 30 to 45 days after the initial treatment. It takes about 2-3 months to get a general idea of the final results. The results are long-lasting as long as you maintain a stable healthy lifestyle. The number of cycles does not have an impact or risk for Paradoxical Hyperplasia.

Yes, some people need more than one session of Coolsculpting. Keep in mind, for best results with Coolsculpting, a combination approach is needed. I recommend adding radiofrequency treatments like Vanquish for skin tightening and with Z wave/Cellutone for skin smoothing. However, Vaser with ThermiRF procedure is the best combination for a toned result, but requires more downtime. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

CoolSculpting can be performed on the same area more than 3 times.  There is no maximum number of times that an area can be treated.  Each patient is different, so some patients do require more than one treatment session to obtain the desired result.  I would say having an area treated 4 times is not common but it is possible and I have treated some of my patients in this manner without any problems.

Thank you for your question. Yes, you can have Coolsculpting more than 3 times in the same area. As long as there is pinchable fat in the area already treated you can continue to have treatment to reach your desired goal. Please remember it can take 3-6 months to see 20-25% fat reduction in a treated area. The number of cycles and treatments is not related to developing paradoxical hyperplasia, which is an extremely rare side effect of Coolsculpting. I appreciate your question and your concern. Many patients decide to undergo more than one CoolSculpting treatment session to achieve more dramatic results and there is typically no additional risk associated with multiple procedures. Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH) is a very rare complication of CoolSculpting that can be reversed through other treatments, though we have never seen a single case of it in over 6 years of treating patients. It is not linked to multiple treatment sessions. I would advise you to wait about three months between your treatment sessions, however, to determine how much effect your previous appointment had before scheduling another. There is not any concern with continuing to treat the same area more than two times. We tell patients you may need 2-3 treatments minimum and there are cases where patients desire another treatment or two, in order to achieve their desired result. Number of cycles and treatments is not correlated with developing paradoxical hyperplasia, which is an extremely rare side effect. As stated below, keep in mind it will take three months to see your final result.
