Can anyone tell me her chin is due too much excessive chin filler injection or its a chin implant that has shifted over the years that resulted as this? Im considering having a chin implant but Im really concern about the long term side effect of it lets say in 10 years time. Also I had Juvederm injection to my chin 9 months ago is it possible to do a chin implant with possibly some of the injection still inside? Thanks!!
Answer: Chin implant longevity It is impossible to say what is the reason for chin deformity on the picture; it may not be a chin implant at all?Chin augmentation and shaping with implant is very predictable procedure and can be customized for individual patients. Small asymmetries are possible due to underleying chin bone asymmetries. Displacement (shift) of implant is very rare complication as well as infection.Juvaderm injection should not have any side effect on chin implant surgery. Discuss your options with an experienced board certified plastic surgeon in your area. Good luck.

Answer: Chin Implants She likely has too large of a chin implant although no one can say for sure. Chin implants are very safe and have few long-term problems. When properly positioned and secured into placed they do not migrate or shift. Many chin implants will have some degree of implant settling, usually errroneously referred to as bone erosion, but this is a benign process and of no long-term aesthetic consequence.

Answer: Long term effects of chin implant What ever she had done it was done incorrectly. Silicone chin implants are very safe, I have silicone cheek implants myself. Silicone is inert and used for many types of biomaterials. When the chin implant is secured with a screw it is permanent as it can't move. If you want it out or a different size, it is very easy to do.Dr. Joe Niamtu, III

Answer: Chin Implant. Concerned about the long-term side effects Great questions! In posted photo impossible to say whether implant vs fillers. But my guess is large implant or could be her anatomic genetic result? Question 2: Shifting of chin implant rarely occurs after 6 months unless severe trauma to area. Question 3: Long term effects? I personally have chin implant from 1999 - never an issue! Question 4: Non issue with 9 month post Juvederm injection. Seek in person opinions from boarded PSs..

Answer: Chin implant concerns The picture you posted is an abomination, if it is filler it is way too much and if it is an implant it is way too big. The surgeon responsible is the fault here not the chin implant. I have done over 1000 chin implants in the past 25 years and never had a patient look anything like this. I have had almost zero complications from chin implant surgery during all this time. Properly placed implants do not shift without major trauma. A firm capsule developes around them and securely holds them in place after a few weeks. Most miss-placed implants are put in wrong and this is often not noticed until after the swelling from the operation has subsided. Also if too big a pocket was made so as to get the implant in very easily there is more chance of shifting before a pocket developes. An experienced surgeon will make a pocket that is only slightly larger than the implant being placed I have many implant patients with procedures done over twenty years ago, and when I see them, if they do not remind me I would never know that I placed a chin implant in them. A good quality Silicone implant purchased from Implantech or any other reputable company will last a lifetime without any complications Most of your Juvederm should be gone at nine months and you should be able to get the Silicone chin implant placed now.
