2 weeks post op abdominoplasty, need revision? (Photo)

Thanks for your question.You are only two weeks from the time of your surgery. This is very early on in the recovery period. I would not expect to see anything meaningful with respect to results until atleast 6 - 9 months. You will be very swollen and this will take time to settle down. A few questions:1) did you have a drain in the abdomen? 2) was your abdomen quilted ? 3) did you have your 6 pack muscles realligned (rectal divarication)I m not sure why you are having a CT. Did your surgeon feel there was a collection present - if so this is likely to be a seroma or liqiufied haematoma and can usually just be drained directly and is relatively straight forward to do. If you had quilting of the abdomen and your 6 pack realligned then this will make the area very swollen and again this will take time to settle.I would discuss this with your surgeon to determine what he/she thinks is going on but I would not even be considering revision surgery. I dont think you would find one surgeon who would do this.BW

Very difficult to tell anything in your post-op photos, with all the taping and dressings present.  CT is a good idea, and will rule out any fluid collections or any breakdown of the suture repair of your muscle layer.  If the CT is normal, just let your post-op swelling resolve, and work on weight loss to reduce any intra-abdominal fat.  If the CT shows some identifiable cause, your surgeon should intervene.All the best,

It is hard to make any judgments based on the photos. It could be the expected amount of post-operative swelling or there could be fluid collections. I recommend you follow-up with your surgeon for a thorough exam. If you are planning to have a CT, that will give you a much better idea of what might be going on. Keep your surgeon informed of the results. Hope this helps. 

Good idea to obtain CT of the abdomen to see if excess fluids accumulated. I think not based upon the before photos to me demonstrated you had excess visceral fat thus causing the bulging effect now.

As you're only 2 weeks post-opertory is to soon to know if you're going to need a revision, as i can see by your photos, you'e Recovery is going very well, you're just swollen as it's normal as expected in this kind of procedures. You'll only know if you'll need a revision by 6 months after the surgery that it's when you'll see the final result. Best wishes!
