Hello, I am a 19 year old female (5'5,120 pounds). I scheduled my surgery date for breast lift with 650cc implants. I have trust in my doctor but I am still nervous about the scarring around the aerola. I want to have 650-700 cc implants placed. Would this require a breast lift in my case ?
Answer: Do I need a breast lift? You might not need one. I recommend an in person evaluation by a plastic surgeon to be measured and discuss your goals. After I measure and discuss goals with my patients, we then look at pictures of women (my patients) with similar measurements with different size and style breast implants. Women tell me that this process is very helpful in determining what size and style breast implant is right for them. Mildly Sagging Breasts: If your breasts are mildly droopy, a saline or silicone gel implant placed behind the pectoral muscle might help create the illusion of perkiness. That’s because as the implant fills out the top of the breast, it also fills out the bottom, making it look as if the nipple has moved higher. It hasn’t. You can always get a lift later if you feel you are not perky enough when fully settled and healed. Answer: Am I a good candidate for a breast lift? Thank you for your question and photos. Although an accurate physical examination is necessary to advice you and help you in the final decision, your breasts present some degree of laxity / ptosis and therefore a mastopexy / lift / skin tightening procedure would be appropriate to enhance the shape of your breasts. However combining this with large implants (and 650 cc are large implants) is very likely to shorten the life of the lift itself as gravity will take over quickly. Please take your time to discuss this aspect with your surgeonBest of luckAndrea MarandoPlastic and Cosmetic Surgeon, Manchester and London, UK

Answer: Lift or no lift To perform a lift or not depends on several factors, the most important is the nipple position. Your nipple position appears slightly low, so a lift seems reasonable. However, you have a small frame and are requesting very large implants. The larger the implant, the more of a “lift” you get. It’s difficult to know for sure without a physician exam, but you may be able to go without a lift. Worst case scenario is you don’t like the way it looks and you can get a lift later, after the implants have settled. This approach may be slightly more costly, but you should ask about it. Having said all this, I’d be wary of having such large implants placed, considering your small frame. Large implants have a higher risk of complications. You should discuss with your plastic surgeon. All the best

Answer: Lift + Augment for best aesthetic results. Hello! Based on the pictures alone, in conjunction with your aesthetic desires, you may be in a position where an implant-only option would achieve your aesthetic goals. However, without a physical exam it is hard to say for sure. Without a lift, you also could be at risk for being left with extremely large, sagging breasts.Due to the degree of ptosis (sag) from your pictures I would recommend a mastopexy/augment for your best aesthetic result. This is best improved by a breast lift. I am the only surgeon in Canada who preforms both the traditional breast lift as well as the 'no vertical scar' bellesoma breast lift.
