Answer: Asian nose that needs augmentation HI Jennifer, Don't worry too much. There are so many ways your nose can be augmented. When you said you have a pig nose, you are describing some of the features that are commonly seen in Asian short nose. That is, specifically, the upturned tip, low dorsum, and low nasal tip projections. There are many choices of materials to be used for augmentation, either with implants or your own cartilage. I think the best way to approach this issue is to find a plastic surgeon who is experienced in treating Asian rhinoplasty and discuss in person what is the best option for you. William Lao, MD

Answer: Rhinoplasty for Short Nose It is difficult to see from your front photo, however, what you are referring to as a "pig nose" is most likely what is known as short nose. It also appears that you have a very low nasal bridge. These things can be improved with augmentation of the dorsum, refinement of the tip, and derotation of the nasal tip. This would help you achieve your goals for your nose. In regards to your nasal bridge this can be achieved either with a synthetic implant or something called DCF (diced cartilage fascia) graft, where an implant is made from your own tissue.

Answer: Asian Rhinoplasty concerns The best way to determine what specific changes will look good on your face, and what changes are surgically possible, is to do your research to find the top Asian rhinoplasty specialists and consult with several of them in person. During your consultation, your photos can be computer-morphed to show how the changes to your nose will affect your appearance. An Asian rhinoplasty specialist will have the experience to determine whether the morphed images are surgically attainable. Also, while there are several approaches to building up your nose during Asian rhinoplasty, using tissue from your own body will give you the safest, longest-lasting, and attractive result. @asianrhinoplasty @drdonyoo

Answer: Asian Rhinoplasty This is a single view of your nose, and the angle isn’t the best, but I get the idea here. Many people are self conscious of their appearance. Your nose isn’t the easiest, but it’s certainly not impossible. The thickness of your skin is a major challenge, as it hides the changes made underneath, unless the surgeon uses strong structural support to sharpen, project and rotate the tip. This will require ear cartilage graft, as well as maybe some support from a septal graft or non autologous materials, Like a PDS sheet. Good tip definition and position is possible in your case. You are exactly correct, you’d need to raise the bridge! That can be done with rib cartilage, a diced cartilage graft (“dcf”) or gore-Tex. These techniques are very, very commonly treated at our practice A pointy nose might not be the best choice for you, though. An in person consult or a virtual consultation would help us to see the whole picture, establish achievable goals, and come up with a great plan. A better nose we can help with, then it will be up to you to disarm those mean people with your new found confidence and smile!

Answer: Asian Rhinoplasty Candidate These are the most common issues I hear patients discuss with me regarding their reasons for wanting to alter the appearance of their nose while still maintaining their ethnic identity: Asian rhinoplasty patients discuss their dissatisfaction with the following: Flat nasal profileSlight nasal bridgeFlared nostrilsWide nasal tipPoor nasal tip strengthWhen selecting a rhinoplasty surgeon, it is of the utmost importance that you choose a surgeon who is board certified in facial plastic surgery. Board certification matters. Especially, when you are considering ethnic rhinoplasty. You want your face and nose in the hands of an experienced and qualified surgeon who can walk you through the procedure and cost. I am including a website link about Asian Rhinoplasty as well as video that discusses in detail the specifics of this procedure. I hope you find this information helpful. Sincerely, Philip J.
