Which method of liposuction is best for fat transfer breast augmentation? Is Smartlipo Triplex a bad choice?

The only way to do fat transfer is with standard tumescent liposuction.  Using a laser or ultrasound assisted device will kill the fat cells prior to transfer and makes no sense.  I use a large bore Mercedes tip cannula and wet technique (not superwet) to preserve adipocytes.  I also avoid basket cannulas or power assisted liposuction techniques because I believe these are more traumatizing to the fat cells you need to survive the transfer and give a permanent result.

I do not recommend using Smart lipo for fat grafting and to instead use the traditional technique of lipo with either a suction machine or a hand-held suction device.

Smart Lipo would not be a good choice for fat harvesting if the fat is to be used in fat transfer. It causes too much tissue destruction. Usually the least destructive methods for fat harvesting are traditional liposuction, power assisted liposuction and manual liposuction with a handheld syringe and cannula.

Great question! No laser lipo!! kills cells. Vaser ultrasonic is fine and the cell packets smaller and may incorporate better. Good Luck!

Laser and ultrasonic energy sre useful adjuncts to liposuction as they are used to create and energy and heat to melt fat, lessen bleeding, and tighten skin. However, I would not recommend using for fat transfer for the same reasons. You do not want to inject damaged fat.

You should use the least traumatic method for fat harvesting for nreast augmentation. The use of the Smartlipo would be a bad idea. This actually destroys the fat so that it is no longer alive and will not remain when transferred to the breats.Traditional liposuction with specialized cannulas and low suction give the best results.

The method of transfer of fat to the breast varies between surgeons. A uniform method has not been defined as yet because this technique is still new and is changing as we speak. However, certain principals for transfer have been defined. Using small gauge cannulas, placing the fat with multiple passes, and with small quantities at a ttime is considered by most to be essential in good outcome. Smart lipo or other types of liposuction machines are not as important to the outcome as the knowledge and expertise of the surgeon.
