Does it hurt to get metal suture removal after facelift and lower bleph sutures?

Does it hurt to get metal suture removal after facelift? Is there anything I can do to make it more comfortable? Also, same question for lower bleph suture removal... thank you!

Clip removal is easy and painless. Think of using an instrument to remove a staple fro paper. The clip "unfolds" and is very quick and gentle process.
The lower lid bleph sutures are small and surgical nurse removes them 5-7 days lateral. Ask your nurse to use iced gauze before and during the removal. If you are very anxious about this, ask your surgeon about prescribing a very mild anti-anxiety medication. Think positive!

Metal sutures are normally not used in a facelift but it is possible that metal staples may be used on certain portions of the incisions.  There are specific tools used to remove these staples and there normally is not much pain involved with removing them.

I have never seen actual metal sutures placed in the facelift. I have seen patients who have had staples placed in certain areas of their facelift, usually the hairline as staples can be easier on the hair follicles than sutures, in order to approximate the skin. There is a special instrument that is used to remove the staples which makes it minimally uncomfortable.  Applying a small ice pack to the area before the staples are removed maybe helpful. Check with your surgeon.

I personally never use staples and close the incisions with sutures.  If staples were to be used (I consider this a shortcut) there are tools for their removal.

I don't use metal sutures for a facelift.  There are special tools for removal and pain should be minor. Best to you.
