How can I get rid of malar festoons? (Photo)

I had lower blepharoplasty performed November 2013 and yes it got rid of my under eye bags. A month into recovery I used a over night eye cream which burned my eye lid so bad it woke me out of my sleep. Looked in the mirror and my lower eyelids was burned literally peeled right off. Lower lids was pink, surgeon told me not too worry he performed a oxygen treatment to my lower lids and my lids came back as you can see in the pictures but with loose skin and Malar festoons.

Malar festoons are hard to treat. I would suggest that you schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon in your area to be assessed in person and discuss options such as a mid face lift with festoon removal.

This is truly an excellent question.  In my years of experience, I have found that lower eyelid surgery does NOT correct malar festoons.  In order to do this, you will require midface lifts with festoon excision.  You will need to find a most experienced surgeon and observe carefully the before and after photos he provides.

Typically this is treated with lasers , in your skin type you have to be very conservative and nonablative lasers in a series of treatments will help.  I suggest you see an expert who treats a lot of darker skinned patients. We often combine laser treatments with venus legacy RF to help the circulation as well. Best, Dr. Emer.

You have some prominent festoons.  YOu may benefit from tightening the skin surgically, and also doing some sort of treatment such as Radiofrequency to improve the collagen under the skin and help tighten it.  Festoons can be tough to remove!!
