Can I have the loose skin cut off of my sides only? I had a tummy tuck.

It is not uncommon to have some loose skin at the sides after a tummy tuck. Extension of the scar laterally or to the back may be necessary to remove the excess loose skin. This would be considered a revision and the price varies by region, but is usually significantly less than the original procedure. 

Thanks for your inquiry, without a picture it is hard to comment, but tummy tucks can be converted into lower body lift to remove lateral and posterior skin excess, please seek the opinion of a board certified plastic surgeon.

Hello and thank you for your question. Excess loose flank skin is a common problem following massive weight loss. There are several ways of removing it including revision of you tummy tuck, converting it into a vertical excision. Doing a bra line lift. Converting the tummy tuck to a posterior body lift and or doing a direct excision of skin along the flanks. Check with your surgeon if they do this.Peter Fisher M.D

Cutting off excess lateral skin and fat is not uncommon after a tummy tuck particularly in a  patient with significant weight loss.  If you return to your original surgeon costs are usually lower.  Prices would depend on the extent of the excision required.  Most plastic surgeons who do a lot of body contouring should be able to show you several cases of this if you visit them in the office.
