My hernia repair and muscle repair failed due to coughing. After a revision, will I ever be able to workout without diastasis modifications ?
Answer: No Hello,Failure of rectus plication occurs from early rupture of a running suture, or less commonly multiple ruptures of individual sutures. After 3 months, sutures become irrelevant to the repair; scar tissue takes over and holds things together. Best of luck!

Answer: Tummy Tuck Diastasis and Hernia Repair Failed. Long-term Need for Taking it Easy? There is insufficient information to answer your question individually, but let us say that you had an umbilical or ventral hernia repair with sutures only. The fascia was weak, the sutures pulled through and you have a recurrent separation of the muscles or hernia recurrence. If you have a good repair with mesh as well as plication, you should have a small chance of recurrence, and after healing can lead a normal life with regards to activity.

Answer: Tummy tuck muscle repair Dear Bellaanna3,it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery

Answer: Diastasis repair may need additional support In cases where there is a wide muscle separation and/or thin fascia on the muscle wall, the addition of support with mesh can be helpful. Whether this is appropriate for your situation cannot be determined without an in-person exam.

Answer: Tummy tuck revision After a revision of your diastasis repair, you should be given post-op instructions on your activity restrictions. I would expect that you will have a period where you will be unable to do any exercises or workouts while you heal. After your healing period, you should be able to resume exercising as long as there are no other complications of your repair and you have adequate thickness/strength of your abdominal wall. It is important to discuss the post-operative instructions with your surgeon to make sure you have an optimal outcome. Johnson C. Lee, MD Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon @drjohnsonlee
