Brown under eye after tear trough filler, is it a bruise or Tyndall effect? (Photos)

Hi, I had a tear trough filler (Restylane) 2 days ago and ever since I have a brownish under eye line (left eye in the pic) as seen in the pic. I had some bruising and swelling, I have been icing constantly and applying arnica gel, the swelling has gone down significantly and the bruising at injection site is less but still there (pink spot in the pic). However I am concerned what the brownish hue is. Is that because of the bruise, swelling or is it a Tyndall effect? I am really worried.

Thanks for this very important question. Given that your injection was only two days ago - this is a bruise. Tyndall effect would not occur this early. Speak to your injector about Arnica and other ways to make the bruise heal faster.Good luck! Dr. ALDO

Thank you for your question. Bruising is always a possibility with any dermal fillers. The undereye area can be very sensitive and more susceptible to bruising. Since you are only 2 days post-injection, I recommend waiting 2 weeks before making any judgments. If you are still concerned, I would follow up with your injector to address your concerns.

Hi. Thank you for your question. Bruising and swelling is expected with filler treatment. Allow 1-2 weeks for your filler result to settle. Adjustment can always be made after that.

Bruising is very common with fillers in the tear trough. Give it some time to let the possible bruise settle and then follow up with your injector.

Thank you for your question.  It is normal to experience bruising and swelling up to 2 weeks after filler injections.  The under eye even more so than other places on the face.  The anatomy of the under eyes is very delicate.  I always tell my patients to expect there will be bruising and swelling.  I recommend to follow up with your provider in 2 weeks if you still have concerns.  Best of luck!

Bruising under the eye with fillers is so common that I tell everyone they should expect some. If they have no bruise I am happy to be incorrect. I think this is a little bruising at this point. If no swelling then use warm for bruising. Give this two weeks and then evaluate.
