My bum and thighs have always been disproportionate to my waist, I hold alot of fat in my legs in general, including my calves. What procedure would you recommend? I’m mid 30s, non smoker. Weigh 65kg. Active lifestyle but even when I’ve weighed less my shape is still out of balance so hence why I’m looking at surgery. Thanks in advance.
Answer: Achieving a More Proportionate Look: Liposuction as a Viable Option Thank you for your question regarding which procedure would help you achieve a more proportionate look, given the distribution of fat in your lower body. From your description, it seems that you do not have a lot of excess skin, which makes you a good candidate for liposuction. Liposuction could effectively contour the areas you find too large, such as your thighs and calves, by removing excess fat deposits. This procedure is especially beneficial for someone like you, who maintains an active lifestyle and healthy weight but has specific areas where fat tends to accumulate disproportionately. Liposuction can provide a more balanced and harmonious body contour, aligning more closely with your natural waistline and overall physique. Since you mentioned that even at a lower weight, your shape remains out of balance, liposuction offers a targeted approach that exercise and diet alone might not achieve. It's important to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon who can assess your body in person and provide a detailed plan. They can determine the best areas to target with liposuction to enhance your body's proportions and achieve the aesthetic results you desire. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: Liposuction I think you would be an excellent candidate for liposuction to your flanks and outer thighs to improve your shape. Liposuction could also be done to your abdomen and a small amount to your inner thighs.

Answer: Body contouring assessment To make an assessment regarding body contouring, we generally prefer to see everything in context. it’s better if you include your full torso from your shoulders to below your knees to see things in context. Your pelvic bone is that wide and your hip bones project significantly. This is consistent with the more hyper feminine curve. Some improvements may be possible with Liposuction but contouring this area is not always easy or straightforward. To get the outcome, correct the procedure should be done with patients laying on their side. The number of plastic surgeons who can do this type of work well on a consistent basis may be relatively small. When it comes to Liposuction, I recommend patient be very selective when choosing providers. The following are some general guidelines for finding the best provider. To find the best provider, I suggest patient schedule multiple in person consultations with experienced plastic surgeons in their community. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before and after pictures of previous patients who have similar body or facial characteristics to your own. An experienced plastic surgeon should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients. An experienced provider should in fact have hundreds or preferably thousands of before and after pictures to choose from for commonly performed procedures. Being shown a handful of preselected images, representing the best results of a provider’s career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results will look like in the hands of each provider. There is no correct number of consultations needed to find the best provider. The more consultations you scheduled the more likely you are to find the best provider for your needs. Take careful notes during each consultation, especially regarding the quantity and quality of before and after pictures. It’s not a bad idea to bring pictures of your own body/face to use as reference when reviewing before and after pictures. The biggest mistake patients make is scheduling only one consultation without properly vetting or comparing providers before scheduling surgery. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
