Alar base reduction without tip work - will this improve the look of my nose? (photos)

Hello I am African American with really thick skin. I have had a rhinoplasty several years ago. I have consulted with a surgeon and he advised me he didn't think he would be able to improve my tip at all. But he did think an alar base reduction would work for me. My question is, will bringing in my nose from the sides and just leaving my tip they way it is, will that make my tip looks more bulbous, will an alar base reduction alone give my nose a favorable result or improve the look of it?
