I would like an opinion on Thermismooth Radiofrequency treatment for refining skin. How effective is it and how long lasting. It was recommended since I have Asian skin. The ablative procedure would probably not be the best for me.
Answer: ThermiSmooth RF To Refine All Skin Types How Long Does ThermiTight Last ?This is a hard question to answer as there hasn't been a study to my knowledge that only treats half of the face to see if there are permanent improvements. In either case the biological aging clock keeps ticking so that regular maintenance ever few years may be indicated to give you your best results. I like the analogy of getting your hair cut or your nails done, after a while it is time to refresh/renew your image once again.Re: Asian skin - since RF is "color blind" this is a good source of energy to use and should be a good choice for most to tighten and refine skin. This is how it works: In response to RF induced heat at the skin surface the collagen in skin shrinks when heated to a sustained temperatures greater than 40°C. When the skin is heated to this level, this creates a physiologic process that stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen over time.

Answer: ThermiSmooth Asian Skin Thank you for your question. ThermiSmooth is effective and there are some steps to go about in order to reach the maximum desired results. The area needs to be treated for a significant amount of time in order to let the tissue warm up enough. The amount of time for this varies on the area that the provider is treating. Another factor to take in consideration is consistency. Again depending on the area being treated. This procedure is perfectly safe for all skin types. The patient can also do their part in changing their eating habits and staying hydrated before, during, after, and between procedures.

Answer: Thermi smooth We have found thermismooth effective to improve fine lines and improve skin tone and texture around the eyelids and mouth. It takes several treatments (typically we advise 3-4 performed every 2 weeks) and the improvement is gradual since it is the result of collagen production and your own skin "healing" and tightening as a response to the radiofrequency energy. Because the procedure has only been used for a couple of years, we can't tell for sure how long it will "last" on a given patient but the skin is permanently altered (improved) on biopsy so it results in a permanent improvement but the skin ages out of it and time marches on. Like most of these procedures periodic repeat treatments will be needed to keep the skin looking youthful. Your doctor can look at your skin and give you the best idea of what to expect because the results depend on the amount of improvement you will need.Best of luck.
