I look for a BMI approximating 30 to lessen the risks of complications during and after surgery and to enhance the results of the procedures. A BMI of 35 is probably the upper limit that a plastic surgeon would consider for these procedures.
Hi there! Thanks for your question. Typically, you need to have a BMI of 30 or below before undergoing an elective procedure. This ensures the safest, healthiest and fastest surgery / recovery. Best of luck!
With a BMI of 35.9, liposuction can be done. 10 lbs can safely be removed during one session and can be repeated if necessary. Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.
Dear Chelle219,it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Yes, you can certainly get Vaser Lipo done, which can remove a large amount of fat in one session, and use the fat for augmentation of your breasts. However, you should be aware that fat transfer to the breast can only give limited volume enhancement, and will not correct sagging.Ideally, you should consult a board- certified Plastic Surgeon who will assess you and advise you.
It is a good thing to be denied surgery. It isn't safe for you.It is better to get bariatric surgery of one type or another to loose the weight needed prior to any cosmetic surgery. There are several options, balloon, gastric sleeve endo or laparoscopic, Gastric bypass, etc. This will make you more healthy in the long run and open up several future options.
Yes, I woud but you are limited to ONLY 4 liters liposuction in office in Florida. As far as fat to breasts, the results are limited to volume injectioned that fills out. Fee $10,000.
A healthy BMI is between 15 - 24, the maximum recommended being around 30. If you are above 30, then you are encouraged to lose weight before undergoing surgery. The higher the BMI the higher the chance of complications. A Skype or FaceTime consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon will help you get an accurate recommendation for your procedure and for pricing. Rather than making your own surgical plan I suggest having in person consultations at which time you can get an accurate assessment and better understanding of each of the procedures you’re interested in.BMI is only one way to measure someone’s body habitus.Anyone overweight will do better losing weight first so that is good advice. You may or may not be a candidate for Liposuction and some of this has to do with fat distribution, what areas you’re looking to treat and to some degree your height. Your Health matters because I just said be a Maya taller person will carry more weight and Liposuction is limited by how much fat can be removed in a single procedure and still follow safety guidelines. most plastic surgeons will not remove more than 5 L of fat in a single session. In Florida this is limited to 4 L maximum. for example, that is sufficient to treat the torso to completion for most patients wing up to about 170 pounds. If you’re 4 foot 11 then 5 L may be sufficient but if your 6 feet you may need much more than 5 L of fat removed with a BMI of 35.Breast fat transfer is good at increasing breast size one half to one cup but is not good at changing the shape of the breast.Typically women who are somewhat overweight tend to have more of an issue of breast shape than breast volume but that is a generalization.I suggest having a few in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons.Best,Mats Hagstrom MD
Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and...
Liposuction is traditionally not performed in the forearms, but a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon would help to see if you would benefit from this surgery. The Gold Standard for superior liposuction results requires use of the advanced technology of ultrasound assisted VASER...
Great question. Various liposuction techniques exist including how much fluid is infiltrated prior to the suction part. The infiltration fluid has medication called lidocaine which helps control pain but may cause toxicity is high volumes are used. In addition to lidocaine one must also consider...
